How to Increase Energy Fast Without Caffeine

How To Increase Your Energy Naturally Without Caffeine (Top 5 Ways!)

Low energy levels has become an epidemic and because of it, people are addicted to caffeine like never before.

Before I began my health journey, if I didn’t have my daily dose of caffeine/coffee, I would be a complete zombie. And, another word that I’m not going to say on this blog 😉 In other words, you wouldn’t have liked me very much!

But, of course, all that has changed and now I only sip on coffee when I’m craving it not because I depend on it.

Yes, it was a journey to get to the point where I naturally had lots of energy without any stimulants, but the journey was well worth it.

The problem with ingesting too many stimulants over a long period of time is that it eventually wears down your body, especially your adrenal glands, and this can lead to lots of negative health issues.

In fact, this is exactly what happened to me. The combination of too much caffeine, a bad diet, and stress eventually caught up to me and lead to adrenal insufficiency/fatigue.

Part of my healing/recovery was finding ways to rebuild and energize my body naturally (without caffeine). I cut caffeine out completely until I recovered. It took months, but it was definitely worth it!

I’m more energized today than ever before and I only drink coffee occasionally.

In today’s post, I’m going to share the Top 5 ways that helped me to increase my energy naturally without caffeine. But, first I want to mention that it’s essential to eat a clean diet. A clean diet alone will improve energy levels. The tips below are things you should do in addition to eating a clean diet to take your energy to the next level.

#1 – Drink a Pint of Water Upon Waking

water

I know this sounds too simple to be true. But, believe me when I say… it makes a HUGE difference in your energy levels throughout the day!

While sleeping, you can easily go 8+ hours with no liquids. And, because of this, your body can become slightly dehydrated.

And, even slight dehydration can cause a dip in energy. It can also affect your alertness and mood. In fact, severe dehydration can actually cause your brain to shrink & shrivel up… which is crazy!

So, when I first wake up, I like to saturate my body and brain with pure, filtered water. And, boy does it make a huge difference in my alertness and energy!

I like to take a pint size mason jar (about 2 cups) and sip on it within the first 30-45 minutes of waking up while doing my morning routine.

Once you form this habit of drinking 2-4 cups of water first thing in the morning, you’ll never go back. Your body will actually start to crave it!

#2 – Try Intermittent Fasting

Benefits of Intermittent Fasting

If you’re not familiar with intermittent fasting, it’s not typical fasting. It’s basically where you eat all of your calories for the day within a specific time frame. For example, you eat your first meal around 11am and your last meal around 6pm. This gives your body a 17 hour window of pure fasting. **You can drink water during this time.

The reason intermittent fasting can give you so much energy is because every time you eat, it takes energy to digest food. And, if you’re eating every couple of hours, a lot of energy is going towards digestion.

In fact, as much as 30% of your daily energy can be used towards digestion, especially if you’re eating foods that are hard to digest. This is why you may feel tired or sluggish after a meal.

So, by intermittent fasting, you’re essentially limiting the time frame that your digestive system is forced to digest food and use up energy. This gives your body a break from digesting food for 17 hours and allows your body to use that energy in other ways, such as giving you more brain power, alertness, and more energy overall.

In fact, I don’t eat my first meal of the day until around 11-11:30 AM, and I find that by fasting in those morning hours, I’m able to get so much work done because I’m so alert and energized! I’ve been intermittent fasting for about a year now, and I can tell a huge difference in my overall energy levels!

#3 – Eat Grass-fed Liver

Did you know that grass-fed liver is one of the most nutrient dense and bioavailable foods on the planet?

One of the biggest reasons people have low energy levels nowadays is due to underlying nutritional deficiencies, especially in the B vitamins.

And, grass-fed liver is an excellent source of B vitamins, including B12 and folate.

It’s also a good source of vitamin A, which is essential for healthy skin and a strong immune system. What’s even more important is that grass-fed liver contains the most absorbable form of vitamin A, called retinol.

An interesting side note is that it’s estimated that only about 10-20% of beta-carotene is converted into retinol. So, you want to make sure you’re getting both beta-carotene for it’s antioxidant properties and retinol from high quality animal products.

Grass-fed liver is also a great source of vitamins D, E, and K. And, it contains the most absorbable form of iron, called heme-iron. If you have low iron levels and regular, synthetic iron supplements aren’t working, I suggest trying a Grass-fed Beef Liver Supplement. All of my female clients benefit from taking grass-fed liver.

Grass-fed liver also contains trace minerals, such as copper, zinc, phosphorus, chromium, manganese, and magnesium.

It really is the superfood of all superfoods in my opinion!

Now, if you can’t stand the taste of grass-fed liver, I can’t either. Instead, I take a grass-fed beef liver supplement daily the same way I would a multi-vitamin.

It’s a whole food supplement, which means your body will absorb the nutrients more effectively.

#4 – Exercise

exercise

Now, I know you’re thinking, “how can I get more exercise if I have no energy?”

But, what you have to realize is that continuing a sedentary lifestyle actually leads to more fatigue, so you’re eventually going to have to break out of this vicious cycle if you really want to increase your energy levels.

There are so many studies that show that regular exercise helps to reduce fatigue and increase energy. It’s just a matter of doing it.

Exercise gets your blood pumping, which helps to use up stored energy, drain your lymphatic system (detox the body), and energize your brain. It also releases those “feel good” endorphins and helps to improve sleep. And, better sleep means more energy the following day!

Now, when I say regular exercise, I don’t mean you have to go crazy with it! Any type of movement on a regular basis will help to increase energy, such as walking, jogging, riding a bike, resistance exercise, lunges, squats, etc.

#5 – Get Better Sleep

get better sleep

If you’ve ever had a bad night’s sleep, then you know just how much it can affect your energy levels.

If you struggle falling asleep or getting good quality sleep, then it’s very important you get to the root cause of your sleeping problems.

Sleeping problems can be due to a lot of things, including nutritional deficiencies like low magnesium, hormonal issues, or even something as simple as looking as blue light technology in the evening. Too much blue light in the evening can affect your melatonin production, which is your sleep-inducing hormone.

If you have sleeping problems, be sure to read my blog post about sleep here.

But, the point is, if you don’t get good quality sleep for at least 7-9 hours per night, it will eventually catch up to you and affect your energy levels. In fact, sleep is the most important thing you can do to increase your energy levels naturally.
