Here are 5 Ways to Cleanse Your Liver Naturally…
Before you read any further, let me begin by saying that it’s important to clean up your diet and lifestyle as well, especially if you want to see maximum results.
You can take all of the health supplements and herbal remedies in the world, but unless you remove the toxic ingredients from your diet & lifestyle first, then they’ll have very little effect.
So, I want you to look at these ‘5 Ways’ as more of a boost for the liver in order to help cleanse it even faster.
1. Milk Thistle
Milk Thistle is an herb that’s been used by herbalists for centuries to treat health issues. Â Studies have shown that certain substances in milk thistle, such as silymarin, help to protect the liver from toxins, including Tylenol. Â Many of you know that Tylenol, especially in high dosages, can have damaging effects on the liver. Â Well, by taking milk thistle, you can help to prevent or reverse these harmful effects.
And, milk thistle can also help the liver to repair itself by stimulating the growth of new liver cells. Â Therefore, it can also help to reverse the damaging effects of alcohol consumption, pesticides in our food supply, heavy metals, air pollution, etc.
Milk Thistle has also been shown to have anti-cancer effects. Â In fact, what’s even more impressive is that some studies show that milk thistle appears to stop cancer cells from dividing and reproducing — Talk about impressive!!
In addition, milk thistle is anti-inflammatory, which is why it’s often recommended to those with liver inflammation.
So, as you can see, milk thistle is great for both liver detox and liver support.
2. Dandelion Greens
Dandelion Greens are a bitter herb that you probably have growing in your backyard. Â If you’ve ever seen the yellow dandelion flower before, then you’ve also seen the greens (they’re surrounding the flower).
Dandelion Greens are a powerful liver tonic!  This herb helps to detox the liver by metabolizing fat that has accumulated in the liver over time and, in turn, helps to restore proper functioning back to the liver.
In a recent study, they found that dandelion leaf extract helps in the prevention and treatment of obesity related nonalcoholic fatty liver disease mainly by helping to metabolize the excess fat in the liver.
Personally, I like to juice my dandelion greens (because they are pretty darn bitter), which is why I’ll be sharing a Liver Detox Juice Recipe with you in the video above.
3. Lemons
So, we all know lemons contain lots of vitamin C, but did you know that vitamin C helps the body to manufacture more glutathione (a master antioxidant)? Yep!
And, glutathione is a triple threat because it neutralizes free radicals, enhances the overall immune system, and helps to detox the liver.
Therefore, by boosting glutathione levels, it’s going to help detox the entire body, including the liver.
4. Turmeric
Turmeric has been used for its medicinal properties for centuries, and for good reason!
Turmeric contains a very powerful ingredient, called curcumin. Â Curcumin has a strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect in the body.
So, it’s great for your overall health. Â But, in regards to the liver specifically, studies have shown that curcumin actually helps to stimulate the production of bile in the gallbladder, which the liver uses to help eliminate toxins and break down fats.
We’ll also be using this herb in my Liver Detox Juice Recipe, so be sure to watch the video above.
5. Apples
Apples contain malic acid, which helps to soften and dissolve cholesterol stones in the liver and gallstones in the gallbladder.
Apples also contain pectin, a soluble fiber, which helps to remove toxins and cholesterol in the blood. Â As a result, this puts less of a burden on the liver.
However, be sure to get organic apples since conventional apples are sprayed pretty heavily with pesticides.
Also, if you’re concerned about the sugar content in apples, you can substitute with unpasteurized apple cider vinegar.
Bonus Tip… CRYING…
While I was studying to receive my holistic nutrition certification, I learned that your tears contain stress hormones (emotional tears, not tears you get when cutting an onion).
So, when you cry emotional tears, you’re actually releasing stress hormones. Â If you hold your tears in, then your liver is forced to process these stress hormones.
Therefore, by letting the tears flow, you’re actually doing your liver a big favor and lessening the burden on the liver.
Next time you’re feeling stressed out or grieving the loss of a loved one, let them tears flow honey! Let ’em flow!  Get that emotional stress out 🙂
A Liver Detox Juice Recipe…
I figured I’d give y’all a simple juice recipe that includes most of these foods. Â I recommend drinking this juice 1-2 times per week for health maintenance or once per day for those with toxic, sluggish livers.
This sounds delicious!
