SUGAR. Lets face it. It’s addictive, especially processed sugars! In today’s post, I’m sharing my ‘secret’ drink recipe that will reduce and/or completely eliminate your sugar cravings in 7 days or less.
If you find it difficult to stay on a clean eating diet for more than 5-7 days before caving to your sugar cravings, then today’s post is for you.
I challenge you to try this drink for at least one week to see its full effects
How does this drink work?
I’ll be using two ingredients in this drink recipe that have been shown to help lower and/or eliminate sugar cravings altogether. They are: Apple Cider Vinegar and L-Glutamine.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has been shown to help stabilize blood sugar levels, which in turn helps to control sugar cravings.
One of the most important factors in controlling overall sugar cravings is to keep your blood sugar levels balanced at all times. And, apple cider vinegar is great at it!
In addition to helping balance blood sugar levels, apple cider vinegar also has anti-fungal properties, which help to keep things like candida under control.
One of the most common symptoms of candida overgrowth is massive sugar and carb cravings. So, by keeping candida in check and keeping your overall gut bacteria in balance, you’ll notice less sugar cravings longterm.
FYI: It’s very important you get apple cider vinegar that’s raw, unfiltered, and contains the ‘mother.’ And, if you can get organic, that’s even better.
L-Glutamine Powder
L-Glutamine is an amino acid that also has been shown to help stabilize blood sugar levels.
But, in addition to that, L-Glutamine is great for healing a leaky gut. Leaky gut is a blanket term we use to describe a condition where your gut and intestinal lining has become so permeable that things like undigested food particles, bacteria, and even nutrients can slip through and get into places it’s not supposed to be, like your bloodstream.
Of course, leaky gut can lead to a whole host of negative health symptoms, one of them being nutritional deficiencies due to lack of absorption, especially in things like magnesium and zinc.
And, for instance, if you’re deficient in magnesium, your body can’t properly regulate insulin, glucose, and even dopamine levels, which usually results in massive sugar cravings, especially chocolate cravings.
So, this is just an example of how a leaky gut can lead to nutritional deficiencies which can eventually lead to sugar cravings.
L-Glutamine is pretty amazing because not only will it help to reduce sugar cravings instantly by balancing blood sugar levels, but it’ll also give longterm results by helping to seal up and strengthen your intestinal lining, which will lead to better nutrient absorption, which translates to fewer sugar cravings.
How to prepare the drink…
To prepare this sugar detox drink, add about 8 oz of filtered water to a glass followed by 1 Tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar, 1/2 tsp L-Glutamine Powder, and I like to add an optional sweetener to make the taste more tolerable. Today, I’m using a low carb Monk Fruit sweetener, but you can also use raw honey, stevia, etc. Stir to combine all of the ingredients.
How often you should drink it…
For best results, I recommend consuming this drink 2-3 times per days before meals. Do this for at least 7 days and comment below this blog post to let me know how it worked for you!
If you’re still having sugar cravings…
If you’re still having uncontrollable sugar cravings after drinking this sugar detox drink 2-3 times per day for at least a week, it could be a sign of an underlying hormonal imbalance, such as Adrenal Fatigue or Hypothyroidism, or a nutritional deficiency.
If you suspect one of these things, I would highly recommend getting tested. The first thing I would test is your cortisol levels (for adrenal fatigue). Adrenal Fatigue is a lot more common than people think, especially in women, and can cause sugar and salt cravings.
For a quick at-home test, I recommend using LetsGetTested. They offer a great cortisol test you can do right from home. And, if you order through my personal link, not only will you get 20% off (code: KAYLA20), but I’ll also interpret the test for you for FREE.
The next thing I would test for is Hypothyroidism and/or underlying nutritional deficiencies. You can get 20% off all of their tests and I’ll interpret all of them for you for free. Here’s the links below…
Test for Hypothryoidism
Test for Adrenal Fatigue (Cortisol)
Test for Iron Deficiency
Test for Essential Vitamins Test (B12, Folate, & Vitamin D)
Test for Liver Health
To get 20% off all at-home tests, use code KAYLA20.
Saw this on YouTube and I’m starting it today because I was on day 6 of clean eating and working out and I got takeout Chinese, ate some potato chips and rice pudding. I hope this works and I will report back in a week with my progress. Definitely checking out the rest of your site.
Thank you for your comment… how did it work for you?
