There are lots of recipes for homemade wellness shots, and each of them have their own unique set of health benefits. One thing all wellness shots have in common though is that they help to boost immunity and usually contain anti-inflammatory foods. These Lemon Ginger Turmeric Wellness Shots will do both!

  • Vitamin C – The oranges and lemons in this wellness shot recipe will flood your body with immune boosting Vitamin C.
  • Anti Inflammatory – The ginger and turmeric have powerful anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Anti Microbial – The ginger can help to ward off unwanted microbes while fighting inflammation and boosting digestive health.

Wellness Shots Ingredients

For this Lemon Ginger Turmeric Wellness Shot recipe, you only need four simple ingredients.

  • Oranges: The oranges not only contain lots of Vitamin C, but they also help to naturally sweeten the shots making them enjoyable and easier to drink.
  • Lemons: Packed with Vitamin C as well, Lemons also offer benefits for digestive health and are low in sugars.
  • Ginger Root: Contains compounds called gingerols and shogaols, which have anti-inflammatory effects and also has antimicrobial properties.
  • Turmeric Root: A powerful anti-inflammatory food! Contains curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

How To Make Wellness Shots

All you need to make wellness shots at home is a juicer or a blender with something to strain the juice with (i.e. nut milk bag, cheesecloth, etc.)

  • Prepare the ingredients: Peel the lemons and oranges and roughly chop them. Roughly chop the ginger and turmeric.
  • Juicer Method: Run the ingredients through the juicer to extract the juice (easiest method).
  • Blender Method: Add the ingredients to the blender with 1-2 cups of water or coconut water and blend. Then, strain the juice using a nut milk bag or triple layered cheesecloth.
  • Storage: Transfer to 2 oz bottles. Place one in the fridge and the rest in the freezer to preserve the nutrients. Defrost one at a time the night before.

Substitutions and Additions

This wellness shot recipe is very customizable and you can even add in some extras to boost the health benefits even more. Here’s some ideas for you…

  • Add a different fruit. If you’re not a fan of oranges, try pineapple or apples. Both of those juice very well and still have lots of Vitamin C to help boost immunity. I would recommend keeping the lemon though (or substitute with lime).
  • Make it metabolism boosting. Add a pinch of cayenne pepper right before consuming each shot to boost metabolism and add even more antimicrobial benefits.
  • Boost Turmeric Absorption. I like to sprinkle in some black pepper, which helps to maximize the absorption of the turmeric.
