Homemade Strawberry Sorbet (only 5 ingredients)

This homemade strawberry sorbet recipe will be the most refreshing dessert you’ll have all summer! And, best of all, it’s only 5 ingredients and all you need is a blender. It’s silky smooth, perfectly sweet, and a delicious way to stay cool in these hot summer months. It’s also gluten free, grain free, dairy free, and vegan.

Why Homemade Sorbet is Better

Making anything at home is always better, in my opinion. Here’s why…

  • Homemade is more fresh. With any homemade sorbet recipe, it’s always going to taste more fresh because you’re using fresh ingredients unlike store bought sorbets.
  • It’s Healthier. With homemade sorbet, you can control exactly what ingredients you want to add plus the amount of those ingredients. So, if you’re on a no processed sugar diet, you can opt for natural sweeteners, such as maple syrup or raw honey, which are much better for you. Or, choose a low carb sweetener if you’re on a low sugar diet.
  • It’s Low Calorie. Because sorbet recipes basically consists of fruits, sweeteners, and added flavors and no cream or milk, they’re usually a lower calorie dessert option making them a great weight loss friendly treat.

Homemade Strawberry Sorbet Ingredients

Homemade Strawberry Sorbet Recipe

To make this homemade strawberry sorbet recipe, all you need is five simple ingredients that you may already have on hand.

  • Frozen Strawberries: It’s important to get frozen because this allows you to eat the sorbet right away after blending.
  • Maple Syrup: This natural sweetener adds to perfect amount of sweetness so it feels more like a dessert and not just blended frozen fruit.
  • Lemon Juice: To balance the sweetness, I like to add a tablespoon or two of fresh lemon juice. The tanginess pairs very well with the other sweet flavors.
  • Vanilla: A touch of vanilla extract gives this sorbet more depth of flavor.
  • Mint: The added touch of fresh mint really compliments the strawberry, vanilla flavors. It brings it all together!

How To Make Homemade Strawberry Sorbet (with a blender)

To make homemade fruit sorbet, all you need is a high speed blender and a tamper tool.

Step 1: Add all ingredients to a high speed blender. Blend while using the tamper tool to help move the ingredients towards the blade. Continue to blend until smooth. This takes a few minutes.

Step 2: Transfer sorbet to a serving bowl or cup and enjoy! Or, add it to a storage container and freezer until ready to serve.

Tips and Substitutions

  • Fruits Swaps: Feel free to use any type of frozen fruit with this homemade sorbet recipe. Some of my favorites include blueberries, raspberries, mango, and pineapple.
  • Frozen Fruit: Always use frozen fruit whether you buy it already frozen or you freeze fresh fruit.
  • Sweeteners: Liquid sweeteners tend to work best with this homemade sorbet recipe (i.e. maple syrup, simple syrup, honey).

Ingredients

  • 16 oz Frozen Strawberries
  • 1/4 C. Pure Maple Syrup
  • 1 Lemon, juice only (about 1-2 Tbsp)
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 4-6 Fresh Mint Leaves

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a high speed blender. Blend slowly starting on a lower setting and working up to a higher speed while using the tamper tool to move the ingredients towards the blade. *Tip: If you need to add 1-2 Tbsp of water to get things moving, that's fine but try to avoid using too much water.
  • Once it's all blended, taste it to make sure you're happy with the amount of sweetness, tanginess, etc. You can always add more maple syrup, lemon juice, mint, or vanilla to adjust the flavor to your taste preference. Once you're satisfied, transfer the sorbet to some servings bowls and enjoy!
  • Storage: If you have leftovers, transfer it to a freezer friendly storage container and freeze until ready to serve. When ready to serve, let it sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes to soften before scooping.
