Is Your Body Exposed to ‘Invisible’ Stress?
Taking care of yourself is important on so many levels, and as we get older I think we all start to realize more and more how basic things like eating a good nutritious diet, getting enough rest and exercising regularly plays a vital role, not just how we look, but also in our overall wellbeing.

That threat is electromagnetic frequencies, or EMFs for short.
EMFs are emitted from all wireless devices, including, but not limited to, cell/cordless phones, tablets and laptops, computers, TVs, baby monitors, WiFi routers, smart meters, and cell towers! There are also other sources of EMFs in the home such as refrigerators, microwave ovens, hair dryers, air conditioners, and more!
Yes, basically we are all now surrounded by what can be called ‘electro smog’ and as with any ‘smog’ it can create negative symptoms both physically and mentally.
The key and vital difference between EMFs and other types of ‘smog’, say, petrol fumes, or cigarette smoke, is that these frequencies can’t be seen, felt, tasted or smelt, and due to the current levels and pervasiveness of the wireless signals, which have reached unprecedented levels, you can’t get away from them either!
With constant over exposure to EMFs our bodies experience the growing amount of electromagnetic radiation in our environment as a form of stress, called ‘electro stress’. And there is also now growing scientific and public concern that the high exposure to electromagnetic radiation can have a detrimental effect on our health.
It doesn’t take a lot to figure out that if our bodies are under continual stress that it will eventually start to show symptoms, or ‘mysterious’ problems, and in some cases these can become chronic or serious.
Trouble sleeping, headaches, anxiety, tension, tinnitus, rashes, nose bleeds, fatigue, brain fog, depression and yes, you guess it, premature aging, and even weight gain (!) have all been linked as possible symptoms of EMF radiation.
There are also studies which now prove that EMFs can affect the DNA and reach every cell in the body; and as a result EMFs are, in some cases, now being linked to miscarriages, infertility, cancer, thyroid issues, and more.
Based on this it’s even more important to pay attention to how we look after ourselves and what we do to keep ourselves healthy.
The good news is that there are some things that we can all do, that are pretty easy to implement, to reduce the effects of EMFs.
The first one is to address our levels of exposure and curb as much as possible.
Simple things like:
- using the hands free or a wired headset when speaking on your cell phone
- not carrying your phone in your bra, or pockets or anywhere on your body
- keep laptops and tablets away from your body as much as possible
- turning the wifi router off at night
- turning your bedroom into a ‘wifi free’ zone
- putting your phone down several hours before you go to bed
- switching it to airplane mode when you’re not using it
- reconnect your gadgets, as much as possible, with ethernet cables
- not using your phone in low reception areas, like the car, or elevators
- limit your cell phone use as much as possible
Now, while these tips make take some ‘readjusting’ on our parts (we have become so addicted to being glued to our phones!) the truth is we managed without them for many years and once the harm that these gadgets can cause is highlighted it gets a little easier to figure out ways to get back to a more ‘wireless free’ lifestyle!
As can be seen here after just a few minutes using a cell phone; the red areas being the most affected. Makes you think twice, right?
Another thing to consider is what you eat.
We know that it’s important to eat as healthily as possible and that they are certain foods, that are better avoided, but interestingly, many of the foods that are considered to be part of a sensible diet, are also foods that actually help the body protect itself from toxins, including EMFs!
So ensuring that one eats balanced nutritional meals can be another way to set the body up to be more resilient.
Some of these foods are;
Fruits – apples, citrus fruits, blueberries, prunes, dates
Vegetables – cruciferous leafy green ones such as cauliflower, cabbage, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cilantro, garden cress, bok choy, etc.
Nuts and seeds – walnuts, pecans, pomegranate seeds
Herbs – rosemary is considered a very powerful protector
