Today, I’m sharing my Colon Cleansing Smoothie in conjunction with my last blog post on How to Cleanse Your Colon Naturally.
One of the tips I shared on how to cleanse your colon naturally was to start including high fiber, green smoothies into your daily/weekly routine.
And, of course, this smoothie recipe is one of the smoothies you can begin to incorporate. Â This colon cleansing smoothie is full of natural fiber, nutrients, and healthy fats to keep you full.
What are Psyllium Husks & Why Did I Include Them…
Psyllium is a form of fiber made from the husks of the Plantago ovata plant’s seeds.  It’s often referred to as a bulk-forming laxative.  In other words, it’s not one of those laxatives that gives you the “runs” or creeps up on you suddenly.
It works by soaking up water in your gut, which helps to make your bowel movements much easier & more smooth. Â And, because it helps to hydrate your stool, it can also be a great remedy for constipation.
Psyllium husks are also considered to be a prebiotic, which is essentially ‘food’ for the probiotics in your digestive tract. Â Anything we can do to keep our good bacteria flourishing is a good thing!
But, a little goes a long way. Â Start slowly with 1/2 – 1 tsp per smoothie and be sure to drink lots of water since it does act as a sponge soaking up water in your gut.
