July Favorites (Food + Beauty + Fashion!)

Hey y’all!  So, I’m trying something a little different today…. I’m sharing with you some of my favorite products from the month of July!

Plus, I’m even sharing a few of my “not-so-favorite” items as well… something I rarely see bloggers do!

Check out the video below to hear what I have to say about each product…

Favorite Food Items from July Include…

Siete Chips & Wraps – these are 100% Gluten Free, Grain Free, and Paleo Friendly, which is a huge plus!  But, the MAIN reason I’m loving them is because they are freaking delicious…. like, WOW!  I’ve tried lots of healthy chip varieties, and these surpass them all (by far!).  Both the wraps and chips are made with cassava flour (they also have almond flour wraps, which are also delicious), and the texture of both items is very different.  For instance, the chips are a mixture of crispy and creamy… I know that sounds weird, but you’ll just have to try them for yourself to see what I’m talking about 😉  These are probably my main July obsession.

Runa Clean Energy Drink – So, I found these at my local Whole Foods (you can also buy them online) and figured I’d give them a try on the days where my schedule is super busy and I need extra (clean) energy.  In the mornings before my workouts, I usually have either a Bulletproof Coffee or a green smoothie with green tea and yerba mate as my liquid base.  However, there are some afternoons where I just need that extra boost of mental energy.  The problem is having coffee anytime after 2pm keeps me awake at night.  Well, I’ve been drinking these 1-2 times per week around 4-5pm and they’ve not kept me up at all in the evenings.  The caffeine is very subtle and comes from a natural source (the guayusa leaf), so I’m assuming this is why it doesn’t cause a crash or keep me wired until 2am!  Oh, and did I mention that the entire can is 0 calories, 1g carb, and 0g sugar with no artificial anything and 100% organic!  WINNING!

Bulletproof Coffee Beans – I know, I know… I’ve been using Bulletproof beans for about 2 years now.  But, since this is my first ‘favorites’ video, I wanted to share some of my longterm favs.  (Click HERE to get a free PDF of my Top 11 Favorite Bulletproof-Style drinks).  These are the only beans that do not give me headaches, brain fog, or any other negative side effects I was experiencing from coffee before… yes, even organic.  You can read more about the Bulletproof beans HERE to see why I only use these beans when drinking coffee.

Celtic Sea Salt – This is another item I’ve been using for a while now with amazing results!  High quality salts make a world of difference in your health.  Please, please do not use table salt… it’s horrible for you and practically void of any nutrients anyway.  This Celtic Sea Salt contains over 80 minerals!  I got hooked on this salt a few years back when I was experiencing adrenal fatigue (along with some other health issues).  With adrenal fatigue, your blood pressure can become irregular due to an imbalance in the hormone, Aldosterone, and you can wake up with low energy, headaches, light-headedness, dizziness upon standing, etc.  Plus, you tend to go to the restroom more frequently with adrenal fatigue causing you to release more sodium, which can create an imbalance in your electrolytes.  Adding 1/2 tsp of high quality salt to a glass of water each morning (plus sprinkling it on foods) made a huge difference in my energy levels and mental clarity.

Natural Calm – This magnesium powder is the only one that doesn’t upset my stomach and actually yields results.  Due to my Celiac, I wasn’t absorbing many of the nutrients in my food, including magnesium, which led to insomnia and poor quality sleep (plus knots in my neck & upper back).  So, I started having 1-2 tsp in a glass of water before bed each night.  It never fails… this magnesium puts me to sleep within 15 minutes and I actually wake up feeling refreshed.  If you experience insomnia or even achy joints, it could be due to low magnesium levels.  This is one supplement I recommend to everyone simply because most Americans are low in this important mineral thanks to the poor quality of soil nowadays!

Favorite Beauty Items from July Include…

Ice Roller – I found this ice roller on Amazon and figured I’d give it a try to help shrink my poor and reduce any inflammation if I get any breakouts.  Before ordering it, I was just using ice.  And, while it worked, it was messy and too cold to hold onto for more than 10 minutes.  This little handy tool is easy to use and is wonderful for large pores and inflammation or redness.

100% Natural Bamboo Face Towels – If you’re looking for a set of face towels that are extra soft, look no further.  Using regular bath cloths are really rough on your skin and can lead to damaged skin over time.  I’ve been using these all month and am never going back to those rough towels (what was I thinking?! Lol).

Hydrating Facial Masks – I live in South Texas, so hydration isn’t really a problem here thanks to the humidity.  However, I could totally see myself using these once per week in the winter months.  After my first use, my skin definitely looked more plump and healthy.  The next day my makeup went on smoother as well.  But, the results only lasted about 2-3 days, so you’d have to do them twice per week to maintain results.  Luckily, they’re affordable!  By the way, I thought these would break me out because not only is my skin sensitive, but it’s also oily in the summer.  Surprisingly, no break outs (even after using 4-5 masks!)… just space them out to once every week or two.

“Not-so-Favorite” Beauty Items Include…

LED Light Therapy Mask – I found this mask at Target and figured I’d give it a try.  It claims to heal breakouts faster and help stimulate collagen.  First off, I understand it takes a while to see the results of any type of collagen production.  However, as far as the breakouts go, it did not heal them any faster.  When I first tried it, I had a pimple on my jawline (thanks to mother nature!), so I was the perfect candidate to test this mask out at the time.  Unfortunately, it didn’t help at all!  I used the mask for about a month…. sadly, no visible results 🙁  Oh, and you only get so many sessions (like 15-20) before having to buy another remote… so, there’s that too!

Everyone Lotion & Alaffia Coconut Lotion – These body lotions really let me down.  I’ve been searching for a good natural body lotion for about a year now.  These were too thin and after about 30-60 minutes, my skin was back to being dry.  If you have any suggestions on a good body lotion, please leave them in the comment section below… getting desperate here! 🙂

Favorite Fashion Item from July Includes…

Faux Suede Ball Caps – I found these on Amazon and wear them literally every week, especially on days where I don’t feel like fixing my hair!  I always get compliments on these hats because of their suede look.  What I love most of them is that you can dress them up or down.  These are, by far, my favorite fashion investment in July!
