3 Detox Bath Recipes that Promote Weight Loss, Relaxation, and Overall Wellness

Today, I’m sharing three of my go-to detox bath recipes that promote weight loss, relaxation, and overall wellness of the body. Personally, I love taking a hot bath. I feel like it’s the easiest way to put my body into a complete state of relaxation and help me wind down for the day. But, what I love even more than regular baths is DETOX BATHS! I try to take a detox bath at least twice per month because they’re so good for you.

For the base of each detox bath recipe, I’ll be using Epsom Salt. Epsom salt is basically a form of magnesium, so it promotes relaxation, helps with sore muscles, calms the nervous system, and can even help correct a magnesium deficiency, which is very common nowadays.

In addition to the Epsom salt, I’ll be using other detoxifying and rejuvenating ingredients, including bentonite clay, apple cider vinegar, and hydrogen peroxide. I’ll explain the benefits of each detox bath recipe throughout this blog post.

Detox Bath #1 – Bentonite Clay Bath

The star ingredient in this detox bath recipe is the bentonite clay. Bentonite clay is a natural substance formed by volcanic ash, and it’s highly absorbent.

It’s also negatively charged, which means it can absorb and remove positively charged substances from the body, such as heavy metals and other toxins and impurities.

In fact, clay baths have been used for centuries to help promote overall wellness and detox of the body because it’s a very potent detoxifier. Bentonite clay baths are typically used to help remove heavy metals from the body.

I’m also adding baking soda to this recipe, and it also has cleansing and detoxifying properties that help to boost your immune system. It’s also very alkalizing to the body.

Detox Bath #2 – Refreshing Apple Cider Vinegar Bath

Apple Cider Vinegar Detox Bath

The star ingredient in this detox bath recipe is the apple cider vinegar. Now, I’m sure you’ve heard of the many benefits of apple cider vinegar but maybe you’ve never thought about adding it to your bath.

The acids in apple cider vinegar are actually great for rejuvenating your skin. Not only will the acids help to kill off any bacteria and yeast on the skin, which is helpful for those with eczema, dry skin, dandruff, etc., but the acids will also help to balance the PH levels on your skin leaving your skin feeling extra soft and moisturized.

Apple cider vinegar detox baths are one of my favorites because you can see and feel the results after one bath.

Refreshing Apple Cider Vinegar Detox Bath Recipe:

  • 2 C. Epsom Salt
  • 1 C. Apple Cider Vinegar (make sure it’s raw, unfiltered, with the ‘mother’)
  • 10 Drops of Peppermint Oil
  • 1-2 Lemons, sliced (the acids are also greats for your skin plus the vitamin C will help to boost immunity)

Detox Bath #3 – Restorative Hydrogen Peroxide Bath

The star ingredient in this detox bath recipe is the hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide has been use generation after generation to treat all sorts of ailments. It has anti-microbial and anti-bacterial properties.

But, the fascinating theory about hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is that it’s highly oxygenizing because of its extra oxygen molecule. And, when taking a hydrogen peroxide bath, its thought that the extra oxygen molecule is release and absorbed through your skin, oxygenizing your body.

This extra oxygen can help to break down toxins, energize your cells, and boost your immune system.

Tips When Taking a Detox Bath:

  • Make sure you drink plenty of water during and after your bath because detox baths can dehydrate you.
  • Feel free to prep your skin beforehand by dry skin brushing. Some believe this allows for better absorption. **also dry skin brushing is just good for you overall
  • Soak in the detox bath for at least 20-30 minutes to reap the full benefits
  • If you get too hot, feel free to take a cold shower afterwards to cool your body off.
